Our friends at Floral Fundamentals recently held yet another one of their photo shoot sessions, which featured floral artists from various parts of Europe. The florists created pieces that were amazing and also quite inspiring. We chatted with three of the floral artists who made beautiful flower arrangements with our Porta Nova Red Naomi roses. They gave us some brief insight into their career journeys, what inspires them and the ‘making of’ these wonderful arrangements.

CLASSY – by Geertje Stienstra

Geertje is a Master Florist from the Netherlands who is inspired by nature, fashion and the thrill offered by interior spaces. She is an educator in the field, known for her Masterclasses and the floral art lessons she gives to schools, other institutions and individuals. She also enjoys doing photoshoots for growers, giving demonstrations and making presentations for different companies. She calls this arrangement, Classy.

Making of CLASSY

“I started with a strong wooden base and drilled holes to hold wooden sticks. Then, I added glass tubes at different heights. Inside the tubes, I placed beautiful Porta Nova Red Naomi roses, chrysanthemums, and Talinum.

For a nice finishing touch, I used delicate lunaria leaves. This arrangement is perfect for a table arrangement or a hotel reception counter.

NATURE’S EMBRACE – by Leonidas Rammos

Leonidas, based on the Greek island of Corfu, first studied Psychology in Athens before working as a Clinical Psychologist. In the year 2000, he followed his passion and became a floral artist. Since then, his work has been exhibited in galleries, featured internationally, and he has won Greece’s National Championship in 2005. He has decorated prestigious venues, including the Museum of Asian Art. As a National Judge in Greek Flower Competitions, his eye for detail and love for floristry continue to shine through his creations.

I crafted a bag woven from delicate, fine branches, seamlessly intertwined to create an organic, rustic texture. From this natural base, the Porta Nova Red Naomi roses emerge gracefully, as if they had grown there untouched by human hands.

The arrangement evokes the feeling of a small piece of nature carefully gathered and placed within an artisanal creation—a harmonious blend of nature and craftsmanship. This is a sophisticated floral gift for someone who appreciates artistic, nature-inspired arrangements. Also, once the flowers dye,the reusable handcrafted base is able to host new fresh flowers

CREATIVE FANTASY – by Melissa Smedes

Melissa is a 28-year-old Dutch floral designer who currently works in a flower shop and also takes on freelance projects. With 5 years experience in the craft, Melissa has a passion for detailed designs and enjoys adding creative touches that make her work unique. Much of her inspiration comes from fantasy.

I wanted to design a bouquet in a “fan” shape, so I chose to use this handmade frame made of aluminum wire and tape.

The deep red of the beautiful roses complements the frame perfectly. The strong stems of the red roses, tied in a sheaf-binding technique, provide a sturdy binding point.
